Frazer has been blessed with tremendous facilities for use in serving our community, and last year we challenged our congregation to give toward a special fund to help us maintain these facilities at their very best for the kingdom of God. As of the beginning of 2018, we had approximately a quarter million dollars in this fund (including previous giving Early Debt Retirement Fund and New Hope Fund).
Using these funds, improvements have already been made to our Hispanic Worship area, online streaming video server, and Prayer Ministry equipment. Now, the Board of Trustees has requested and the Finance Committee has approved funding for four major projects: security improvements, recarpeting of the Sanctuary area, re-roofing Building 8000, and wireless microphone replacements.
Security is a top priority for our church, particularly given the tragic stories we see in the news regarding churches and schools. We will spend around $42,000 adding a door security system at selected entry points and enhancing our security camera system.
The Sanctuary carpet has served faithfully through several floods and many years of wear and tear. Replacing it will not only enhance our worship services but also serve our community, who frequently use our sanctuary for weddings, funerals, and other events. The cost, which is still being discussed, will be no more than $125,000.
Building 8000 (part of the John Ed Mathison Activity Center) includes classrooms where our Student Ministry meets. It has an older flat roof that is due for replacement at a cost of $35,000.
Wireless microphones are an essential part of how a modern church proclaims the gospel, but unfortunately federal regulations are forcing all such devices to be replaced with new ones that use a different wireless frequency. The cost to us is close to $61,000.
The trustees have identified a list of numerous additional projects to maintain our building and grounds and ensure up-to-date equipment in good working order, which will be prioritized as God continues to provide funds through the generosity of our congregation.
“Our first priority in giving is always the operating budget, because it is out of our main budget that we continue the ministry of our church and support missions around the world,” said Lead Pastor Larry Bryars. “However, for those who are able to give above and beyond their regular tithes, the Building Improvement Fund is a tremendous way to invest in the future of our church and ensure that we are able to continue serving our community through the facilities God has provided.”
