Frazer Charitable Trust Scholarship Application

The Frazer Charitable Trust Provides Educational Grants From Seven Distinctive Scholarship Funds:

  • The John Ed Mathison Scholarship Fund is established primarily for students going into full-time Christian service or a field of medicine; however, students seeking degrees in other fields of study will be considered should there be insufficient applicants in the primary fields
  • The Blaine Elliott Scholarship Fund is established to support those preparing for service through medicine
  • The Jack Thompson Scholarship Fund is established for students preparing for Christian ministry on the seminary level
  • The Joan Mathison Scholarship Fund is established for students majoring in the arts. Preference will be given to those preparing for Christian ministry
  • The Joe Pat Cox Scholarship Fund is established for those preparing for Christian ministry through music
  • The Kimbrough Pannone Scholarship Fund is established for students attending the University of Alabama. Only one new scholarship is granted from this fund each year

The General Scholarship Fund

Additionally, the Frazer Charitable Trust contains one fund that provides interest-free educational loans. The Mark and Kay Dierlam Educational Trust is established to provide interest-free loans to deserving college students in the Alabama-West Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church. Applicants must be members of the Alabama-West Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church. Loans are to be repaid in full within ten years of graduation or termination of college with no interest due at anytime.

Applications for the scholarship/loan programs are accepted January 1 through March 31 of each year. Scholarship grants are made for a term of one academic year. Students seeking multiple year grants must reapply each year.

Applicants are considered based on:

  1. Involvement in church/ministry activities
  2. Academics
  3. Financial need
  4. Extraordinary situations

Applications must be completed in full with documentation of most current grades w/cumulative GPA in order to be considered. Submission of a completed scholarship/loan application in no way obligates the Frazer Charitable Trust to grant a scholarship or loan. Scholarship/loan grants are made at the discretion of the Frazer Charitable Trust Board of Directors.

Funding available to the Frazer Charitable Trust is based on the generous gifts from Frazer members and others, as well as earnings from investments. Due to economic factors effecting investment returns, scholarship support may vary from year to year.
